Chivas struggled in the Concacaf Champions Cup, drawing with Cibao in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Despite a late equalizer, the team remains winless in five matches.

Chivas Equalize in Last Minute Against Cibao

The Chivas team had a poor performance in the Concacaf Champions Cup by tying 1-1 against Cibao in the first leg of the first round in the Dominican Republic. The start of the match showed a distracted Rebaño Sagrado, allowing a goal by Juan David Díaz Sánchez in less than a minute of play.

During the match, the Mexican team demonstrated a lack of ability to generate collective play and goal opportunities, while their rival focused on counterattacks, failing to create significant approaches to the opposing goal. Despite attempts with the entrances of Javier Chicharito Hernández and Alan Pulido, it seemed that Chivas would suffer a defeat.

However, in the last minute of the match, specifically in the 99th minute, a cross into the area caused a poor clearance by goalkeeper Miguel Lloyd, allowing Luis Rey Mejía to score with a header that ended up inside the goal after hitting the post. With this tie, Guadalajara gets a breath for the return match that will take place on February 12 at the Akron Stadium.

Despite the equality achieved in the final moments, coach Oscar García must be concerned, given that the team has gone five matches without a win, including four in Liga MX and this Concachampions match.
