Dominican Republic Police Report on Carnival Operation

The Dominican Republic National Police conducted a major operation during the 2026 Carnival. Over 250 people were detained, 77 minors were found without parental supervision, and 36 individuals with outstanding warrants were identified. Police highlighted strong public cooperation.


Since the start of the 2026 Carnival last Friday, February 13th, to date, the National Police has carried out its planned operation. In this group, there are 77 minors who were detected without the company of their parents, reported Commissioner Francisco Castro, deputy director of the National Police. He pointed out that they have observed that the behavior of the citizens has been quite good. Although he emphasized that there has been a lot of cooperation. During this period, 10 cases of brawls have also been registered in swimming areas, along with citations and detentions for minor infractions. At the access controls, 36 people with pending cases for arrest warrants were identified and were placed at the disposal of the competent authorities. From this operation, they reported that they have apprehended more than 253 people.
